Aromatherapy for Peace and Tranquility

The past few months have been extremely hectic for us!  Launching a website is a major transition, and our stress level has been through the roof!  Most days, we’ve felt like we were hanging precariously on the edge.

Through all the website changes, and folks asking us when were we launching, we’ve been calming our nerves with aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy has been used since the beginning of time to bring about relaxation and stress relief.  The ancients burned fragrant spices and resins as incense.  Oils were often infused with various flowers and herbs for healing massage and perfume. Aromatherapy is an effective tool to use during meditation, or for any time there’s a need to combat anxiety, stress, tension, nervousness, or depression.  Please be aware, that essential oils should not be a replacement for medical advice.

The most effective way to deliver the calming elements of essential oils to the bloodstream and the brain is through inhalation. Aromatherapy diffusers and burners are simple and affordable ways of maximizing the therapeutic benefits of essential oils.

Below, we share our favorite essential oils, as well as a few recipes to get you started on clean, pure, and natural stress and anxiety relief.

Essential Oils for Stress Relief:

Sandalwood (Santalum Spicatum) has a woody, balsamic, and sweet aroma, that is intoxicating yet soothing and calming to the mind, heart, and spirit.  It helps to quiet anxiety, stress, and depression.

Clary Sage (Salvia Sclaria) has a soft, sweet musky scent with woody undertones, and is great for mental fatigue, emotional shock, and nervousness. Clary Sage is somewhat euphoric, but helps to relax and renew the spirit. Do not use during pregnancy.

Blue Tansy (Tanacetum Annuum) has a beautifully sweet, fruity, and camphor like fragrance, and has been touted to promote emotional stability, calmness, and relaxation. Blue tansy has been effective in combating tension and anxiety. Do not use during pregnancy.

Lavender (Lavendula Angustafolia) is a sweet and floral essential oil that is known for its calming and relaxing properties, as well as its ability to promote a restful sleep.

Frankincense (Boswellia Carterii) is an amazing ancient oil with a woody, spicy, balsamic and citrus fragrance that has been used for thousands of years to offer wonderful mood support and can help improve focus, minimize distractions, and improve concentration. It also reduces hyperactivity, impatience, irritability, and restlessness.
